The island motto is “go slow,” so don’t over-plan your time here! Simply take a look around, breathe in the island air, and relax. Stroll the walking paths, swing in a hammock, or just lounge around in paradise. This laid-back island attitude will have you adjusting to the pace in no time.

Snorkeling in the Belize Barrier Reef is an absolute must while on Caye Caulker. The reef’s stunning marine life includes colorful coral, rays, turtles, and nurse sharks! Hol Chan Marine Reserve is a top snorkeling spot. Remember to book a tour early to beat the crowds. This is the exact tour I did and it was awesome.

Sip N’ Dip is the perfect spot to cool down with a drink while sitting in the shallow waters. This beach bar has tables in the sea, perfect for enjoying cold drinks without leaving the water. You can also grab a bite to eat and enjoy an afternoon of fun in the sun!

Known for its famous “Lizard Juice” and fun atmosphere, the Lazy Lizard is the ultimate chill-out spot. With reggae music, cool vibes, and stunning sunsets, it’s a must-visit for a relaxed afternoon on the island. Take a dip in the water and sip on tropical drinks while soaking in the sun!

Head to the tarpon feeding dock for an unusual island experience. These large fish leap out of the water to grab sardines from your hand. It’s thrilling to watch and participate in, though it might not be for everyone. For a bit of local fun, this dock is the place to go!

6. Caye Caulker Beaches

There are some sandy patches around the island but just head to the Lazy Lizard for the ‘beachiest beach.’

Caye Caulker isn’t known for its beaches, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy some sand and sun. The island has sandy patches and places like Sip N’ Dip or the Lazy Lizard where you can cool off in the water. While the beaches may not be powdery soft, the chill vibes more than make up for it.

Paddling around Caye Caulker on a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) is a fantastic way to explore the island’s quieter side. Head to the west side to paddle through mangroves and peaceful waters. This is a great low-impact way to see the island from a different perspective.

8. The Split and North Island

The Split, created by Hurricane Hattie in 1961, divides Caye Caulker in two. The South Island is where most of the action happens, but the North Island is gaining popularity thanks to its beach clubs. You can easily cross The Split via kayak, SUP, or ferry, and enjoy the fun on both sides of the island.

9. San Pedro Day Trip

If you’re feeling adventurous, take a quick ferry ride over to San Pedro for the day. San Pedro, on Ambergris Caye, is known for its lively atmosphere, vibrant markets, and beach bars. It’s a bigger, busier island and provides a great contrast to Caye Caulker’s laid-back vibes.
