Resets for solo travelers – The Easiest way to relax on the road
Traveling solo is incredible, there is no doubt about it.
Not only is it liberating, but it’s one of the best ways to build confidence and empower yourself.
It can lead to a lot of stress, though, as everything is on you to organise and plan. This can quickly lead to burnout, especially if you’re visiting multiple countries as part of a large trip.
Luckily, resetting while you’re on the road is pretty easy, and in this guide I’ll take you through one of my personal favorite ways to do this.

What’s a Reset Retreat?
A reset retreat doesn’t mean we’re booking a beach trip halfway through our trip (unless it’s planned, of course).
Instead, I’m talking about booking a hotel room for a few nights to unwind and relax. For me, I always choose a room that has a jacuzzi – even if it’s just one night, it’s a luxury that I love to enjoy.
Why I Choose Hotels with Jacuzzi Rooms
For me, that indulgence often comes in the form of a hotel with a Jacuzzi in the room.
Here’s why:
- It’s private – No crowded dorm bathrooms or noisy hostel showers. Just me, peace, and hot water.
- It feels like a treat – I don’t often splurge as a budget traveler, so a Jacuzzi suite feels like the ultimate reward.
- It helps my body recover – After weeks of walking, hauling backpacks, and sitting on buses, soaking in hot water melts away all the tension.
I know it might sound indulgent, but trust me: a little luxury goes a long way when you’re traveling solo.

How to Make It Affordable
Reset retreats don’t have to blow your budget. In fact, I see them as an investment in long-term travel sustainability.
I’ve found Jacuzzi rooms for less than what I’ve paid in some capital city hostels. The trick is knowing where to search. Instead of digging through endless booking sites and trying to guess which “spa bath” is actually a real Jacuzzi, I use a curated directory of hotels with Jacuzzi in room, making it way easier to filter options by location and budget.
This means I can plan my retreat in advance – or even book something spontaneous if I feel burnout creeping up.

When to Schedule a Reset Retreat
The beauty of solo travel is freedom, but that also means you need to be intentional about rest. Here’s when I schedule mine:
- After a long stretch of constant movement (think three countries in two weeks).
- When I finish a big challenge, like a trek or project on the road.
- If I notice burnout creeping in – skipping activities, feeling irritable, or just plain tired.
- Before diving into a new phase of my trip, like switching continents or starting a new freelance contract.
It doesn’t need to be long. Even two nights is enough to reset my mindset and energy.
