After traveling the world for over a decade, here are the items I wouldn’t dare leave without, no matter where I’m going!
Dry Bag
I wouldn’t dare travel without one. I use it as a rainy-day purse beach bag, hand-washing laundry bag, grocery bag, and “overflow” bag.
Credit Card
Not only do credit cards get you free travel, but you should have one in case of an emergency too. Don’t let the annual fee scare you away, you make that back in perks quickly.
For the BEST travel credit card out there right now, and the one I use, it has to be the Venture X.

eSIM
How will you stay connected abroad? Your current provider might charge a bunch once you’re overseas!
Take a look at the eSIM I use to get data abroad.
Anti-Theft Bags
I have an anti-theft purse and backpack! They are simple bags with anti-theft features which keep my mind at ease and my stuff safe AF.
Travel Insurance
Don’t you even think about leaving without it. It covers emergencies and it’s actually really cheap so no excuses! This is exactly what I use.
Kindle
It’s a small thing but it makes the difference! Don’t bring books, you don’t want anymore weight!
Headphones
Whether you need to drown the screams of a baby on a plane, want to listen to an audiobook, or just want to stroll with some tunes, everyone needs a pair of headphones on their trip!
I prefer a Bluetooth set that can “necklace” instead of pods since those are so easy to lose.
Sunscreen
Preferably a mineral-based, reef-safe one if possible! No, but seriously, this shit is SO expensive in every country I’ve ever been to, so bring it with you!
This is my fav—I like the baby version because it’s cheaper and no eye-stinging!.
Aeropress
If you’re not a coffee snob then you can skip this one, but I want my coffee, and I want it to be good, so I’ll just do it myself. I buy local coffee and Aeropress it at my place. It’s the perfect travel mate!
Adapter
You’ll probably need this on your trip! Don’t forget it. This one works everywhere and won’t break on day 5 of your trip like some of the others do! (Mine has gone through years of abuse and it’s still workin’)
Power Strip Surge Protector
If you have more than just your phone to charge OR if you plan on staying in dorms where outlets are scarce, this is a must.
I use this thing every day for my laptop, phone, cameras, etc. Plus, having a surge protector abroad is helpful due to the varying electrical sources you’ll come across.
Portable Charger
Charge your phone and stuff on the go! I use this on long bus rides, at the airport, if the outlet is too far from my bed… Everywhere!
Clothes and Accessories
Last but not least, here are my fav outfits and accessories for travel!
